Dust Devils

Thomas, Rachel and Sir Lefallon travel to Galon Annwn, but three men in black robes challenge them, demanding that they turn over the "magical artifact" they carry -- or they will die a terrible death. The heroes, defiant, charge into battle, as two of the Black Robes conjure up "Dust Devils," and their leader invokes a powerful curse that begins to dry the lips of his opponents (and to promise a far worse fate if the curse completes).

Agatha arrives in timely fashion to join the fray, unhorsing one of the apprentices and dispelling his Dust Devil. In short order, the battle ends, with the master slain, and one of the apprentices captured. The apprentice refuses to tell the victors anything of the curse on Caer Sidi, and Thomas proposes that in punishment he be staked out to die of thirst in the desert, just as he has doomed the people of Caer Sidi.
