Confrontation with Lord April
(19 May 2002) The Queen meets with Lord April. 		(Alice) (Simon) (The Key)
Alice is still with the ladies-in-waiting in the audience chamber of Queen Seraph when Lord April arrives -- and with him, Simon, as his page! Alice is surprised by this, but tries to hide her reaction, not wanting just yet to let Simon know who she is -- especially since she's still not certain just who he really is. While Lord April and Queen Seraph argue about the matter of succession to the throne -- Lord April urging Queen Seraph to choose an heir, and Queen Seraph insisting that only her husband the King has that right -- Simon walks over to the ladies-in-waiting and introduces himself. Alice hears a prophecy that was made by Lady Raven about the Lands Beyond, and also learns just what it means to "Pass into Historie": That is, when the Year ends, and with it the reign of the King, he dies.

The argument between Lord April and Queen Seraph grows more heated, until the Queen angrily calls an end to the audience, and sends Lord April -- and his page -- away. As everyone files out, Alice rushes over to comfort the Queen.
