Challenging the Bandit Queen
(20 Dec 2001) Thomas and friends head into the woods to challenge the bandits and their leader.
(Elinor) (Simon) (The Key)
(Tom)
Thomas, Simon/Sir Lefallon, Elinor/Rachel and Hannah head into the forest, avoiding various illusory traps, including a very convincing one that appears to be a damsel in distress in a cage suspended over a pit full of hungry wolves. They at last discover the home of the witch responsible for the illusions, and smoke her out by stopping up her chimney. They face off with the witch, who reveals herself to be the old Bandit Queen, only turned to sorcery after being lamed by Sir Lefallon during his quest for the Holy Grail. Thomas argues with her, and Sir Lefallon brings forth the Holy Grail, which dispels her magicks. Defeated, the Bandit Queen asks for a sip from the Holy Grail, and is granted it. She is magically restored to her health and youth again, and pledges that she will leave for the Wild Lands ... though she still hasn't quite forgiven Sir Lefallon for his part in this.

The heroes take this opportunity to check her cave for what treasures might be hidden inside, and then slip out, avoiding the bandits who come to investigate the strange light they saw in the woods when the Holy Grail was revealed. As they return to Hawksmoor Keep, they witness a new Dawn breaking across the sky, and Tom is renewed in his determination to help save Mirari.
