Sorcerer Pelles announces, then, that there will be three tests, according to the book - a test of Body, one of Spirit, and one of Mind. In no particular order, he announces the names of three tests: The Shrine of the Pegasus, the Cupbearer of the Titans, and the Tome of the Hydra. The Challenger and Challenged may name champions to take any of the tests ... or opt to take the tests themselves.
Thomas accepts Lady Redmane as Champion for the test of the Cupbearer, and Princess Angel as Champion for the test of the Shrine. However, rather than accepting Nymuae's offer to stand in for the test of the Tome, he takes on that task himself.
Lord Eoin nominates Sir Lefallon as his champion for the test of the Cupbearer - much to the consternation of Sir Lefallon! He elects to take the test of the Shrine himself ... and he summons Monitor the Dragon to take the test of the Tome of the Hydra.
The champions thus chosen, Sorcerer Pelles sends them off to take the tests. The winner will be the one that is victorious in two out of the three tests.
