A Time for Change
July 16 (17 Apr 2003) Play-acting gives way to real life as the results of the challenge are announced. |
But Lord Eoin makes a plea for an alteration to this plan. He argues that the rule the children proposed will obliterate him from existence even more surely than he were marked for execution. He proposes, instead, that a rule be made to formalize the story that he gave during the test of the Shrine of the Pegasus. This is a story with a bittersweet ending, and it pushes Angel to tears, but at last, the children agree to it.
The Rule is written, by Lord Eoin's own hand.
Ariel is returned to life. Lord Eoin passes into Historie.
And when reality comes back to the back yard of Harcourt Manor, Nymuae - Rebecca - breaks down in tears, in realization of what they've just done ... that they've sent a man to death.
Somber over this, the children agree to have another rule put into the book, as requested by Lord Eoin. Penned by Maximillan (as Sorcerer Pelles), the rule chronicles that Lord Eoin had a son in the mortal world ... and that son was named John Cortlynn.
