This is a common headdress for dwellers in the city of Abu Dhabi, near the ocean, in the Himaat, and for peoples in surrounding areas. Roughly, it's a cross between a turban and a drape that covers the back of the head and neck (and sometimes ears and/or shoulders), to shield one from the sand.

The Kaizer is the leader of Chronotopia, a country in Nordika, who presides over the Parliament.

The Kampfzengruppe is a human civilization found on Abaddon, very militant and technologically minded. Their language is closely related to Bosch, the language of Chronotopia, such that speakers of either language can easily learn the other with little difficulty. The Kampfzengruppe's home territories are on Abaddon in the vicinity of the Gateway Tower there, and they have entered into an alliance with the Khattan Emirate, dominating the Gateway Towers of the Primus System, and controlling exploration of the new frontier (and trade with the individual worlds). The Kampfzengruppe is known to have a strong ideal of human superiority - That they have an alliance with the Khattas is no doubt largely due to the stereotypical self-effacing mannerisms of Himaat culture.

(obscure knowledge on Sinai) The Jupani analogues (humanoids with wolf-like features) to be found on the planet of Abaddon (as part of an organization known as the Expedition) are known as "Karnor" or "Karnors". By all appearances, they are genetically identical to "City Jupani" ( Jupani (City-Born) ) on Sinai. It also happens that an obscure name for "City Jupani" on Sinai is "Karnor", pointing at common origins. "Karnor" is also the name of an obscure language sometimes used by City Jupani, and a variant dialect is in use on Abaddon.

A feline race closely related to the Khatta, distinguishable primarily by having digitigrade legs rather than plantigrade. Katthas are widely distributed across Sinai, though the largest concentrations can be found in the Khattan Emirate (Himaat), and in the country of Olympia in Nordika (northern Ai).

Kavis look like ferrets with elongated, spindly limbs and a variety of spots and stripes as unique to them as fingerprints; their fur ranges from white to brown to gold to red-brown. They average five feet in height and have three-fingered two-thumbed hands; their tails are prehensile. They breed startlingly quickly, and if it weren't for frequent diseases, the world might well be awash with Kavis. Kavis in the city are desperate for jobs that will keep their families in permanent good living conditions. They have little common sense, but an inordinate lust for the shekel; the last thing you want to hear is a Kavi looking at you speculatively and saying 'I've got an idea'... Kavis are found practically everywhere: shopkeepers, technicians, secretaries and aides, janitors and servants, and anything else that makes minimum wage for long hours. Kavis out in the wild have reverted to a hunter-gatherer existence that brings them suspiciously close to feralness, often seizing upon a few central ideas and worshipping them to the point of total fanaticism and berserkly attacking anyone who dares to contradict them. A saying goes, 'No one's crazy as a Kavi'. Note on Kavis as PCs:

Kayrf is an herb favored and cultivated by the Keiltyn, most likely due to its mild calming effect on members of that species. Kayrf Chai is a popular hot, soothing Keiltyn beverage made from a tea of this plant's leaves combined with spices, honey, and rugrhat milk.

A race of 'red fox' fox-morphs native to Sinai, Keiltyn are digitigrade, range from 4 to 6 feet average height, and have a slender build with no 'head hair', sharp teeth, a bushy tail, fur colors from rust red to black and silver, and little gender differentiation. They are noctural and therefore not widely noticed by the daytime races of Sinai...contributing to the 'all foxes are exiles' misconception. They tend to be solitary, adaptable, quiet and inquisitive, jumpy when startled, almost obsessed with grooming, and may be seen as grouchy or sluggish if forced to be awake during daytime. Some live traditionally as capable predatory hunter/gatherers, others pursue trades and crafts and may live anywhere.

Lake on the northern border of the Himaat. Also known as the "Lake of Bones", named after all of those who have died while seeking its waters across the desert, and those who have died drinking the water. There are many places in the lake where there are high concentrations of harmful bacteria, and it's best to boil the water before drinking it. Despite this, the lake marks the edge of the Himaat Desert, and the start of vegetated areas toward the north.

The Khattan Emirate refers to the domains of the Emir. Due to the nomadic nature of many of the peoples of the Emirate, this domain has no well-defined borders, and was long considered to correspond to the loosely-defined borders of the Himaat. Indeed, the terms Himaat, Himaat Desert and the Khattan Emirate are often considered interchangeable by outsiders. However, in the fallout of the Alliance Wars, the Khattan Emirate - which chose to remain neutral in the conflict - has grown in prosperity and influence, in large part due to its alliance with the Kampfzengruppe of Abaddon, and its control over Sinai's Gateway Tower in the Himaat Desert. With the displacement of Elamoore, the Emir wielded considerable political and economic influence in neighboring Himar, to the point that Himar has now been annexed. The small area of Tizhar is considered to be under the influence of the Emirate as well, and the mountainous country of Kilmanjar is under the Emir's sway as well. The Khattan Emirate is dominated by the feline Khatta and Kattha races, though with a large presence of the Zerda people as well. Due to the alliance with the Kampfzengruppe of Abaddon, there are many humans that may be found in the domains of the Emirate now as well, and there is an especially diverse racial distribution in the annexed lands of Himar. While there are many Nohbakim nomads in the Himaat Desert, they are considered riff-raff, and not true and loyal subjects of the Emir. As various events have led to greater association between certain of the Nohbakim people and the outside world, however, this may be a changing factor.

This is the 'race name' for most felinoid humanoids to be found on Sinai, not all of whom may actually be genetically compatible with each other. There are many sub-divisions, but "Khatta" is the word used to refer to cat-humanoids rather than the slang "cat" which could just as easily refer to non-sapient felinoid creatures slinking about. It should be noted that Savanites, while certainly felinoid humanoids, are NOT considered "Khatta", though the slang "cat" can still be applied to them. They are not popularly considered truly sapient beings, their lack of ability to speak often held up as justification for such claims, if tradition alone will not suffice. Khatta are found in great variety in populated regions all over Sinai, not having any particular single region which could be claimed as their "homeland", except for the Khattan Emirate of the Himaat (the most noteworthy city being Abu Dhabi, on the western edge of Ai, by the ocean).
| ||
Kilmanjar is a mountainous region near the northern coasts of the Savan, densely vegetated with giant trees much as the Xenean Jungle, but in a much cooler climate. Due to the strong wind currents that thwart the attempts of airships to access the area, and the steep, treacherous slopes, the region is largely uninhabited, and fairly untouched by Rephidim-dominated civilization. With the collapse of the Nagai Empire, the Khattan Emirate has exerted considerable influence over this territory, freely moving in and out, and making use of its natural resources, though it has not been formally annexed as a territory. There are also settlements of Savanites here, though there are no definite "native races" or any political structure beyond village leadership.
| ||
"Kiriga" refers to a collection of races found in the Nagai Empire in the Savan Territories, having in common that they are pseudo-reptilians possessing a total of four limbs, most typically in humanoid form. Unlike most other "reptilian" races of the Nagai Empire, they possess some mammalian features, such as "manes", and are warm-blooded. The plural of "Kiriga" is either "Kirigas" or "Kirigai" (used to refer to the collective "race" as a whole).

The term for "knight" in Rephidim Standard does not necessarily carry all the same connotations as it would, translated into other languages, but nonetheless refers to an elite class of armored warriors pledging loyalty to a recognized authority. The Temple of Rephidim once had its own Order of the Bounded Star and Anchor, its members known as the Knights Templar. The Order was a semi-autonomous body which performs police functions, and pledges loyalty to the Temple, falling under the authority of the Inquisition. The Knights Templar are divided into Lances of warriors identified by color, but otherwise wearing fairly uniform suits of armor. They have long been picked from the elite of the Temple Guard. Once joining the Order, the members go by assigned names rather than their own former identities. This anonymity is further enhanced by the practice of wearing face-covering helms even to social functions, and many Knights take vows of silence, lest they say anything to tarnish the mystique and honor of this body. Of the Knights Templar, the most distinguished warriors are known as Champions, or as the Templars Elite. The personal names of these elite warriors are known to few, and they are referred to by title and Crest (or Aspect) instead -- as the "Champion of Roses", the "Champion of Ashes" and so forth. Each Champion may lead a Lance of knights, but many times they work solo, at times going across Sinai on Pilgrimages. Due to a schism with the leadership of Rephidim Temple, the Knights Templar have become a largely independent organization, moving their base of operations from the training grounds of Golgotha to the recently acquired sky island of Fetiss. |
